What to Expect With the LifeSaver App on Your Android

LifeSaver is a Fleet Safety app that prevents distracted driving. The app can be installed on cellphones and other mobile devices to ensure that you are not using the device while driving. LifeSaver does not continuously track your location, rather it records the locations when a drive is started, when it is completed, and when there is a violation. As such, battery usage and data usage are both minimal.

The app does not access or record any personal data including texts, emails, phone calls, passwords, and voicemails. Depending on your company's cellphone policy, hours of operation may be set so that LifeSaver does not prevent you from using your personal phone while driving outside of working hours.

When not driving, your phone will function normally without any interruption. When LifeSaver detects that you are driving however, if you try to unlock and use your phone, you will see a blue LifeSaver screen preventing you from using your phone. If your company's policy allows, you may also see a Passenger Unlock button and/or an Emergency Unlock button on this blue screen. Using either of these buttons will record a violation and may affect your driver score. Once you come to a stop, there is a short countdown, after which, the blue screen goes away, and you are able to use your phone freely.

If you use a navigation app like Waze or Google Maps on your phone you can still use these while using the LifeSaver app without receiving a violation. Before you begin your drive you will want to open the LifeSaver app and tap the map icon. You will then choose which navigation app to use by tapping on that option. The app will launch and you can enter your destination. You will want to stay on the navigation app to prevent a violation.
