Deploying LifeSaver on Tablets and Devices Without a Phone Number

You can use LifeSaver on tablets and other mobile devices that do not have a cellular plan and therefore, cannot be linked to the portal by cell phone number.

If your company does not use a Mobile Device Manager (MDM), and has drivers that use mobile devices without cellular plans, you can  enable LifeSaver for these devices directly in your LifeSaver portal. For companies with MDMs, the asset serial number is used to link the driver to the account.

To deploy LifeSaver on devices without phone numbers in non-MDM environments:

  1. In the portal, navigate to the Manage Corporate Policy page.
  2. Under General Policy Settings, toggle "ON" the Enable Unique Device ID.
  3. Navigate to the Manage Fleet Drivers page.
  4. Add the driver information to the portal. You must enter an email address for the driver, though you will leave the phone number section blank. Once you invite the driver they will receive a unique ID via email. If you need a refresher on adding and inviting drivers to you account, you can find instructions here: https://2618983.hs-sites.com/kb/how-to-add-a-new-driver-to-your-lifesaver-fleet
  5. Have the driver install the LifeSaver app directly from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Instructions on downloading the app directly from the stores can be found here: https://2618983.hs-sites.com/kb/my-driver-is-not-receiving-the-invite-and/or-confirmation-code-text-messages
  6. When configuring the app and prompted, enter the unique ID that was sent to the driver's email address.
  7. Finish configuring the other features as prompted in the app.

The unique ID will tie the device to your company portal and the driver will be set.

To deploy LifeSaver on devices without phone numbers in MDM environments, when completing your driver template for upload, include the asset serial number in the phone number section. Once the upload is completed the devices will be tied to the company portal via the serial numbers.
