Phone Call Violations Explained

If your company has phone call violations enabled, there are three types of violations that will show up on exceptions reports.

First, if you place an outbound call while driving, an "Outbound Call" violation is recorded. Second, if you accept an inbound call while driving, an "Inbound Call" violation is recorded. Third, if you are on a call before you begin a drive, and you continue the call while driving, a “Call In Progress" violation is recorded. If your company assigns points to these types of violations, talking on the phone while driving will cause your score to go down. Your company can also choose to ignore calls that are placed or received via a handsfree Bluetooth device.

Since LifeSaver does not transmit any data while you are not driving, only the call duration while you are actually driving will show up on your exceptions report. Any call time before the drive begins, or after the drive ends will not show up on the duration. Additionally, sometimes call duration cannot be calculated due to issues with cell phone service or data. In these instances, the call duration will be reported as not available on the report.
