Allowing Apps for Android Devices

If there are applications that are critical to your business, and you would like your drivers to be able to access them while driving, you can pre-approve these apps so drivers can use them without incurring violations.

Enabling the approved apps feature will allow your drivers with Android devices to freely use the apps that you designate as approved. They will not receive violations when using these apps, and will not be blocked from using them while driving.

To enable add apps to the Approved List:

  1. Navigate to the Manage Corporate Policy page in the portal.
  2. Scroll down to the Additional Allowed Apps setting.
  3. Enter the app identifier or "Package Name". The easiest way to find the package name:
    1. Look up the app in the Google Play Store - for the LifeSaver app, the URL is https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lifesaverapp&hl=en_US
    2. Copy the package name from the URL. The package name is everything between the "id=" and the "&" if there is one. For the LifeSaver app the package name is com.lifesaverapp
  4. Paste the package name into the Additional Allowed Apps box.
  5. Paste additional allowed apps on its own new line
  6. Click Save & Apply.
  7. Close and open the app on your device to apply the changes immediately, or wait (up to four hours) to have the changes take effect on all devices automatically.

Please note that Waze and Google Maps are already allowed automatically and you do not need to add them to the allowed apps in the portal. Additionally, allowing apps is only available for Android devices.
